This is a story about what happens when the unfortunate Oliver Todd takes his head (and the saucepan which is stuck on that head) to the local Accident and Emergency Department.

Introducing Squiggly Pete...the Pirate who draws!

When Squiggly Pete (the Scribbling Pirate) sails into Parkgate, looking for the world-famous Parkgate Fish & Chip Shop, imagine his disappointment when he finds it... SHUT! (Pete loves his chips!)

The Chip Shop is a well-loved local favourite and when it is forced to close (due to Covid Lockdown rules) Peter is devastated. But things get worse! Mr Haddock, the owner, has left the Mushy Peas machine running overnight and, pretty soon, there's Mushy Peas... everywhere!

Find out what happens when the mischievous Pete and his crew come to the rescue!

It's a great little story for kids of all ages, based in Parkgate and Neston in Cheshire and featuring a string of local landmarks: Plan a day out and show the kids where the legendary Squiggly Pete actually lived!

It's a great little story for kids of all ages, based in Parkgate and Neston in Cheshire and featuring a string of local landmarks: Plan a day out and show the kids where the legendary Squiggly Pete actually lived!

About the project...

During the recent (2021) Coronovirus Lockdown, children's author Martyn Harvey (the guy with the Saucepan Hat) was invited by Parkgate, Neston & Heswall Community Group Hip & Harmony CIC to contribute some story readings to help entertain local children stuck at home.

After six weeks of (Zoom) draw-alongs, readings and a couple of rapidly-produced videos, the story of "Squiggly Pete and the Curse of the Monster Zombie Mushy Peas Invasion... Thingy" evolved! (Phew - that's some title!) And, for the general greater good (or whatever his excuse is this time) Martyn's turning the story into a full-colour 50-page illustrated children's book!

Take a look at the sample images above and the preview videos below to get a taste of the story and then SIGN UP to our FREE email Newsletter, below, to be notified when the book is available!

Martyn is still working to complete the illustrations and we're expecting to see the book by the end of April 2021 so make sure you sign up for the Newsletter and you'll be the first to know when it's released!

Uncle Jack and the Bumblebee

When a 12-year-old boy opens a window to let out a fly, he is a bit annoyed when a bumblebee comes in after the fly. But things get worse!...

"You may question this story; or think it absurd,
but, after the bumblebee - in came...a bird...
...who fluttered and flapped and seemed fit to explode,
in a flurry of feathers,
and I should have then knowed:
That a bee can be nasty, and give quite a sting...
but a bird in the house?
Now - that's a baaaaad thing!"

Well, eventually, his good old Uncle Jack turns up - and brings even more animals! Find out what happens when your house becomes a jungle!

'...but, then, he returned - with a bit of a smell,
and a couple of chimps and a baby gazelle;
a lizard, a python, a penguin or two...
.. in fact, pretty much everything, found in a zoo!'
"
